About EWNRA

Ethio Wetlands and Natural Resources Association (EWNRA) is a non-political, non-religious, and not-for-profit Ethiopian Civil Society Organization focused on sustainable wetland and natural resource management, as well as livelihoods improvement. EWNRA, with funding from NORAD through the Development Fund of Norway, is set to implement the project "Improving Rights, Sustainable Livelihoods, and Forest Management in Southwestern Ethiopia" in Gambela, Oromia, and the Southwest Ethiopia People's Regional States. EWNRA is seeking highly qualified candidates for the following position:

Number of Positions: One

Duty Station: Mizan-Aman Town (Bench-Sheko Zone, Southwest Ethiopia Peoples' Regional State)

Salary: As per EWNRA's salary scale

Terms of Employment: 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension for up to four years, based on performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

Working with and reporting to the Finance and Administrative Officer, the Cashier Accountant will be responsible for the following:

  • Handle the project petty cash and report monthly petty cash balance.
  • Prepare checks and check payment vouchers and cash receipts upon receiving approved payment requests approved by responsible personnel.
  • Undertake the procurement of office equipment and stationeries when instructed by the concerned and responsible personnel by following the necessary procedures.
  • Follow up settlement of staff advances within the month withdrawn and ensure no further advance is given to the same person before settling the outstanding balance.
  • Any other admin and finance related activity that may be required by the Administrative and Finance Officer.

Qualifications and Experience

  • B.A./Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
  • At least 4/2 years of relevant experience in finance and administration, preferably with NGOs or donor-funded projects. NGO experience is an advantage.

Additional Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of financial management, budgeting, and reporting, including donor compliance.
  • Experience with accounting software and good computer skills (MS Excel, Word).
  • Good understanding of procurement, asset management, and audit processes.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong written and oral English skills for report writing and communication.
