Job Description
About Agriterra
Agriterra is an international non-profit organisation founded by the Dutch agricultural sector. We are dedicated to strengthening farmer organisations, because we believe they are the cornerstone of thriving rural communities.
By building on the success of the Dutch cooperative sector, we provide the knowledge, resources, and support farmer organisations need to grow stronger, thrive economically, and create lasting local prosperity. With a strong presence in the countries where we work, Agriterra fosters collaboration and long-term impact. Together, we sow the seeds of change today, for a thriving tomorrow.
About Agriterra Ethiopia
In Ethiopia, Agriterra has been active since 2015, providing support to cooperatives. Agriterra currently runs three projects, one of which is the "Acting Now for Food Security and Resilient Systems" (Acting Now) project. Acting Now project aims to relieve the acute food insecurity risks in Ethiopia's three regions by reaching 10,340 member farmers with FNS tailored interventions, representing 10,340 hectares through 15 farmer organizations between 2023–2025. Its priority is to improve incomes, productivity, and sustainable land management practices by offering sustainable services that ensure seeds, alternative fertilizers, planting material, agri-inputs (including finance) and advisory services are readily available to boost food production and relieve the risk of acute food insecurity. Furthermore, Acting Now will aim to support farmer-led businesses in becoming more enterprising with bankable business plans that contribute to FNS relevant outcomes.
The project started on January 1, 2023 and will end by December 31, 2026. Under the Acting Now project, Agriterra is currently supporting 17 primary cooperatives in Ethiopia across three regions: Amhara (Awi Zone), Central Ethiopia (Silte Zone), and Oromia (West Arsi Zone). These cooperatives are involved in three value chains: wheat, maize, and potato.
