Job Description
The position holder provides comprehensive technical and operational support for the assessment and implementation of education activities under the UNICEF‑funded project. The Education Assistant is responsible for supporting the full project cycle beginning with needs assessments, response analysis, and planning while ensuring quality service delivery and adherence to organizational standards. He/she works to strengthen inclusive and safe learning environments across the three target woredas by collaborating closely with teachers, school leaders, woreda education offices, and community structures. The role contributes to improved enrolment, particularly for girls and vulnerable children, and promotes effective teaching and learning practices that align with project objectives.

Safeguarding Children and Program Participants (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)
- Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International's Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed per the appropriate procedures.
- Ensures that all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted on and understand their role in upholding Plan International's safeguarding and GEI policies.
- Ensures that Plan International's global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work.
- Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International's global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Community Development, Social Sciences, or related field.
- Minimum of two years' experience supporting education projects (experience in emergency contexts preferred).
- Knowledge of humanitarian programming, child protection principles, and gender‑responsive education.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and community engagement skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; able to prepare clear reports and documentation.
