About the Opportunity
The Director, Group Finance Policies and Reporting is a senior leadership role within Inkomoko’s finance team. This position leads the development, harmonization, and enforcement of finance policies across all countries of operation and oversees strategic, cross-functional financial initiatives that support organizational growth, compliance, and sustainability.
Serving as a strategic partner to the CFO, the Director works closely with internal stakeholders, donors, and regulatory bodies to ensure financial excellence and alignment with Inkomoko’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Process Design & Policy Governance
- Lead the design, documentation, and continuous improvement of standardized finance processes (procure-to-pay, budgeting, reporting, internal controls).
- Promote automation and digitalization in finance workflows across countries to ensure scalability and data integrity.
- Lead the GL ownership matrix and optimize the Chart of Accounts for Group financial reporting purposes.
- Establish a robust finance policy governance structure, including version control, training, communication, and periodic compliance reviews.
Group Financial Consolidation & Reporting
- Lead the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual group consolidated IFRS financial statements.
- Ensure elimination of intercompany balances and transactions during consolidation processes.
- Provide regular consolidated financial reports for executive leadership and board oversight, supporting FP&A and treasury teams with group-level trend insights and cash flow planning.
Strategic Financial Projects & Integration
- Lead or support major cross-functional initiatives, including ERP implementation, financial systems upgrades, and country expansion efforts.
- Collaborate with executive leadership on cross-cutting initiatives such as cost recovery frameworks, shared service models, or new revenue streams.
Internal Controls, Risk Management & Compliance
- Conduct finance risk assessments and recommend internal controls to safeguard Inkomoko’s assets.
- Work closely with internal audit, legal, and external consultants to ensure compliance with international accounting standards, local regulations, and donor requirements.
- Lead the annual group audit process and coordinate with country finance teams to align local audits with group timelines.
Stakeholder Engagement & Team Leadership
- Serve as a trusted advisor to country finance leads and program managers on financial policies.
- Prepare and present financial policy updates and project reports to the Board, donors, and key stakeholders.
- Build, manage, mentor, and coach a high-performing consolidation and group reporting team, aligning workflows with Inkomoko’s values.
Who We Are Looking For
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Advanced degree (MBA, MSc Finance) or CPA/ACCA designation required.
- Experience: 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in finance, policy development, or financial strategy within a multinational, Africa-focused setup.
- External audit experience is highly desirable.
- Deep understanding of donor compliance, financial governance, and multi-country regulatory environments.
- Strong systems thinking with clear experience implementing or improving enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
