Job Description
The Organisation
Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. We believe in the power and potential of every child but know this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion, and discrimination. And it is girls who are most affected.
Working together with children, young people, supporters, and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges girls and vulnerable children face. We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood and we enable children to prepare for and respond to crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national, and global levels using our reach, experience, and knowledge.
For over 85 years, we have rallied other determined optimists to transform the lives of all children in more than 80 countries. We won’t stop until we are all equal.
Plan International is seeking a specialist to establish, operationalise, and continuously improve its data governance, data quality, and analytics enablement capabilities across a global organisation. This hands-on role translates strategic direction into practical frameworks, standards, and processes, ensuring data across Snowflake, DBT, Power BI, SAP, and other enterprise systems is accurate, trusted, and well-defined.
The Opportunity
Sitting within the global Data & Analytics function, you will build and maintain core governance assets including the Data Dictionary, Master Data definitions, Chart of Accounts, Reporting Catalogue, and metadata standards. You will play a key role in driving adoption of data products and structured change practices across a network spanning more than 80 countries.
The role strengthens organisational accountability by ensuring data is governed, discoverable, and accessible, enabling evidence-based decision-making and consistent analytics at scale. You will work closely with Data Engineering, Reporting & Analytics, IT, and business functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Framework Implementation: Operating enterprise data governance, metadata, and data quality frameworks.
- Asset Management: Building and maintaining the Data Dictionary, Master Data definitions, and Reporting Catalogue.
- Standardisation: Embedding governance policies, standards, and naming conventions across the data landscape.
- Reporting Roadmaps: Supporting the design and rollout of reporting frameworks and standards.
- Documentation: Producing high-quality documentation to support self-service and continuity.
- Change Management: Driving adoption through training, communication, and controlled release management for data assets.
- Excellence: Contributing to the Data Governance Centre of Excellence through continuous improvement.
Skills and Experience
- Education: Relevant degree or equivalent experience in Data Governance, Data Quality, or Metadata Management.
- Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with modern platforms including Snowflake, DBT, and Power BI.
- Communication: Exceptional documentation skills and the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate business needs into structured governance artefacts.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Experience working with international, multicultural teams.
- Initiative: Confidence to work independently and drive implementation.
Desirable Assets:
- Professional certifications in data governance or analytics.
- Experience in the development or humanitarian sector.
- Familiarity with data cataloguing or MDM (Master Data Management) tools.
Role Details
- Location: Ideally UK (Woking/Remote). Other locations where Plan International has an office* may be considered.
- Type of Role: Permanent or maximum fixed-term contract.
- Salary: Set according to location; disclosed during the application process.
- Closing Date: Wednesday 15th April 2026
