Job Description
Mission and Objectives
UNDP works in about 170 countries and territories, helping to eradicate poverty, reduce inequalities and exclusion, and build resilience so countries can sustain progress. As the UN’s development agency, UNDP plays a critical role in helping countries achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Context
Agenda 2063 is Africa’s long-term development blueprint for achieving “The Africa We Want.” As the continent is in the Decade of Acceleration, the “Agenda 2063 in Power Spaces” traineeship was established to support a critical shift—from awareness to contribution, from inspiration to execution, and from participation to stewardship.
Building on the lessons of the first cohort, the second cohort will engage 500 Online Volunteers through a structured 7-week traineeship combined with a longer-term engagement model, positioning Agenda 2063 as a multi-market platform through which Africans can actively create value and sustain progress.
Task Description
We are seeking the support of 140 Online Volunteers to engage with Agenda 2063 within their respective Power Spaces through a 7-week traineeship. Participants will reflect on their role in shaping Africa’s future across the decades leading to 2063, identify the values and routines that will sustain their contribution, and position themselves as active builders of the continent.
At the end of the traineeship, participants will produce a “Letter from the Future,” dated 30 January 2063, written to their younger selves in 2026. The letter will reflect on the Africa that was realized, the choices made, the routines established, and the contributions made over the decades.
The 7-Week Traineeship Structure:
- Week 1: What the first cohort taught us
- Week 2: The Gap Between Today and 2063
- Week 3: Agenda 2063 Multi-Market Platform
- Week 4: Values for The Africa We Want
- Week 5: Routines that deliver the future
- Week 6: Letter from the future
- Week 7: The first 385 Days
